Got the yawns? Reading the same thing over and over and it still doesn’t sink in? When you zone out, try these tips.
Every contact center pro – from agent to the director – hits a lull from time to time.
To stay sharp and productive:
- Be accountable. Email a list of the top five things you must accomplish in the workday to a trusted co-worker. Tell him or her, “This is my goal, and at the end of the day, I’ll tell you if I met it.” It’s a little extra pressure to stay on your toes.
- Move. Keeping your nose to the grindstone doesn’t do much good if you’re doing the “head bob.” Schedule five-minute breaks to move (stretch, walk or just stand up) away from your desk hourly.
- Work more at your peak hours. Tell your boss when you’re most productive (you probably know if you’re a morning or afternoon person). Ask him or her to help you schedule the most difficult tasks for that time.
