Customer service reps who started off the day in a good mood were more productive all day than those who were grumpy in the morning, a new study in Science Daily revealed. Reps who started work happy had a better attitude toward customers and got more done.
So efforts to raise morale may be best scheduled first thing (or before) every shift. Some ideas beyond a bonding breakfast:
- Plan a 15-minute all inclusive teambuilding activity
- Schedule a daily 10-minute kickoff meeting to go over the day’s business and focus on one success from the previous day, or
- Send an email with positive comments from customers and co-workers at the end of the day to staff so it’s the first thing they see in the morning.
