Be a service hero: Give customers this perk that costs nothing

The government has taken some of the work and expense out of giving customers a perk this month.

Direct your customers to the 2012 Consumer Action Handbook, an everyday guide to being smart shoppers. They can search the online version or download it or receive the book via mail.

It’s full of tips on preventing identity theft, understanding credit terms, filing customer complaints, checking for recalls and finding contact information for corporate offices, consumer organizations, trade groups and government agencies.

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), along with partner companies and trade associations, puts the publication out each year.
