Avoid these sloppy words and phrases with customers

You  may have the most courtesy and knowledge in your contact center. But if you use any of these phrases, you sound sloppy.

These phrases can make your otherwise professional tone become unraveled. We’ve included better words to use:

  • “Hang on.” Instead: “Please wait a moment while I …”
  • “What’s the problem?” Instead: “How can I help you?”
  • “Just a sec.” Instead: “I will be right with you.”
  • “Here’s what I’m gonna do.” Instead: “I will …”
  • “Let me pull you up on my screen.” Instead: “I’m getting that information right now.”
