3 signs you need some time off

Give your job your best, but don’t let it take the best of you. Watch for these signs you need to take a breather from the contact center.

Agent and leaders will not be effective if their work is taking its toll on their mental and physical wellness.

Watch for these signs you need a break:

  • You only talk or think about work. Your personal and social life take a back seat or are non-existent.
  • You don’t spend time outdoors, working out or on doing any hobbies you enjoy.
  • You dread vacations or time off because the thought of the work you’ll miss or have to make up overwhelms you.

If you’re suffering from any of these overworked, stressed-out symptoms, try to:

  • Disconnect. You don’t need to be wired to work all the time. Check email in batches, ask colleagues to only text you when it’s essential, make everyone aware of the times each day you can’t be interrupted or won’t respond immediately to email, calls or texts.
  • Take a break. If you can’t get away for a full 30 or 60 minutes, schedule several 15 minute breaks. Use the time to listen to music, walk alone or read things you enjoy.
  • Speak up. If work is still so demanding you can’t find a balance, let your boss know. You are no good to anyone if you’re too overwhelmed.
