When you need distracted customers to listen closely to you, try these attention-grabbing words and phrases.
They’ll likely focus in on the important information you are relaying when you say or write:
- “You” or their name. Avoid general words such as “anyone,” “customers” and “people.”
- “Quick and easy.” They appeal to customers’ sense of urgency – and if they’re distracted, they’re likely in a hurry.
- “Critical” and “important.” These words make it clear that you’re about to give need-to-know info. Just avoid overusing them, lest you be the boy who cried wolf.
