Encourage agents to make themselves feel more at home in their work areas.
Employees who have control over their digs – from the layout to the decorations – are 32% more productive than employees who can’t design the area, a University of Exeter study found.
Those who put up art work – including family photos, kids’ crafts and favorite art pieces – and placed plants in their area also had 27% higher feelings of well-being than those who had no control, the study found.
Bottom line: Give agents the freedom to decorate their areas (as long as it’s appropriate). And let them have some say in the colors on the wall, layout of the room and decor, when possible.
