3 ways to play office politics and win

Don’t shy away from office politics. Getting involved the right way may help you succeed in your contact center.

Anyone from supervisors to agents can jump on the political bandwagon without mud-slinging or back-stabbing.

According to management expert Art Petty, here’s how:

  • Find out where the decisions are made. Titles don’t mean much in many organizations when it comes to decision making. Watch for the people who have influence (they’re often involved in the most meetings) and seek their support for your ideas.
  • Watch the rising stars. Think about what makes the up-and-comers successful and what skills you might be able to offer them.
  • Connect. Build a network with the people who have influence and are on the rise. But don’t just brown-nose them. Offer them your expertise, assistance and worthwhile ideas.
